Shortland still open?

Hi everyone

Earlier this year there were emails about Shortland Wetlands Centre at 
Newcastle having some financial difficulties.

Can anyone provide an update, and particularly - is the centre still open on 
weekends for birdwatchers to enter?  I'm
planning to take a new birder there.
