I suspect that the recent wet conditions in central Australia and the
consequent filling of many ephemeral lakes (now beginning to dry up) have
attracted and delayed some waders who would normally have flown directly
across the Centre to the southern coast. If there's enough atlassing
activity happening, this may pick up where some of the waders are.
