Hi List,
 
For what it's worth, I was a licenced rehab bander for many years, and no, the birds do not fly in circles, or are they lopsided.  They do not even bother to check their legs after being banded.  The information we received back from these banded birds, was both very interesting, particularly with migrating birds, and also informative, it certainly helped with the way rehab birds were cared for, and improved rehab techniques.
