Thanks for the reply, I wasn't overwhelmed with responses to my request and I suppose that the area isn't a Mecca for birders. I'll have a look around the Murrumbidgee and definitely stop at Chiltern NP on the way up.

Chiltern forest south of Wodonga, many places along the Murray or Murrumbidgee, also have a look at the little zoo in WW (it is called the botanic gardens). Well worth a look.
