Thanks for the info.  There's a slip in the URL you gave.  I
found the easiest way of accessing the information on locusts
and chemicals was to go to:

http://www.pir.sa.gov.au  and click on the locust link.

Some pretty powerful chemicals are listed there and I was
surprised one document
http://www.pir.sa.gov.au/pages/locust/locust_chemical.pdf
told people to follow the label instructions in order to
"control the target species without harming non-target species,
people or the environment".  Surely harm minimization is the
best that can be hoped for.
