The western most car parks at Loch Ard Gorge are pretty reliable. You won't
find them much west of there until about Portland. If you have a car with
central locking (Land cruiser) that makes that short high pitched squeak
when you lock it, then you will probably get an answer from the resident
males. Another good spot is the Ranger station at Nelson.
Look for them running across the tracks away from the car parks. They
forage under the Acacia scrub.
