Problem solved and grovelling apologies for bothering the list
(and some local birders!).

One of my son's CDs (Holonic by D J Krush) is mainly the usual
cacophonic mix of guitars and drums, together with some growling
as a substitute for singing.

But one track starts with - you've guessed it - a loud tawny owl
call! Interesting how my hearing can switch off the "music" but
react immediately to a bird call.
