Lloyd,

I spent five days in Woomargama SF as part of a flora and fauna survey
conducted by the National Parks Association of NSW.

I ended up with about 65 species for the survey. It was conducted over
easter, so there were some notable gaps in the bird fauna, e.g. no
friarbirds, cuckoos, rufous whistler, gerygones. Despite these absences the
bird community was reasonably typical of that sort of drier forest.

The only unusual thing was a group of 10 Swift Parrots feeding on flowering
Mountain Swamp Gum E. camphora.

There were plenty of good mammals to see, including many Greater Gliders.

I can provide a species list if pushed....

Cheers
Anthony

Hi everyone,

Has anybody birded in Woomagarma State Forest - about 50 km NE Albury off
the Hume
Highway? I went in there for a few hours when I came through last month
and it
seemed it might be an interesting spot. However, it was late afternoon and
winter
time and I did not see a great number of birds.

If anyone has been there or made a bird list, I would be interested in
hearing.

The other place which looked good was Goobang NP about 30 km NE of Parkes.
