Hi there,

Forwarded this to Les and this is the reply. It was to me personally, so
might seem a bit terse but I know Les well and the pressure that this has
put him under and it is not meant to be dismissive.

I understand the principle but wonder if there is room to manoeuvre. All the
rehabbers that have flown down to assist, and the international ones that
come out to help in these circumstances, are well trained in the traditional
techniques so maybe it is best to keep the production line going as is.

Thanks for the input and interest anyway.

For information, the ADU is associated with, and supported to some large
degree by to, BirdLife South Africa and houses the BirdLife International
Seabird Programme which is run under the management of BirdLife South
Africa. We are very grateful for all the work that Les is doing both for ADU
and indirectly for BLSA, but most of all for the birds.

Hi Carol

The guiding principle is that we don't try new techniques in a spill
of this magnitude. Thanks all the same.
