> In the Lamington National Park can you get tour guides for bird watchers
> or was it just a figment of my immagination, that I read you could
Yes, and yes. The book "Birds of Lamington National Park and Environs -
A Guide's Guide" by Lloyd Nielsen (ISBN 0 646 0 6609 9) can be purchased
from the giftshop at O'Reillys, and probably at Binna Burra. I paid
$15 for mine when I visited there several years ago - excellent value.
I would still use your regular field guide for identifying birds, but
the species accounts detailing status, habits and where to see the birds
is invaluable. It also contains some very helpful tips of telling
Bassian Thrush from Russet-tailed Thrush - both are found in the area.
If you are after guided bird walks, both O'Reillys and Binna Burra offer
these, though I didn't try them myself.
