Paul:

Yesterday (Sunday 9 April) I collected an injured female Koel from a house
on the Rothwell/Deception Bay border (Coman Street for those who like to be
pendantic about these things). Outwardly she appears healthy enough but the
householders had no difficulty approaching and picking her up before their
domestic moggie took a keener interest.

Beautiful bird! Hopefully all she needs is a little R&R.

Early April is VERY late for Koel in the Redcliffe area (and for outside
listers that is 35km NNE of Brisbane, the state captial of Queensland).

Julian

PS In case I have to keep the bird a while longer than anticipated does
anyone have any ideas about appropriate substitute food for koels?
