Outside my office at the Argyle Diamond Mine in the east Kimberley of WA, I
just witnessed about 20 Little Corellas flying off presumably to roost
(they hang around the offices for much of the day but then fly off
somewhere late in the afternoon). They were flying in dribs and drabs. A
single corella flew over when suddenly a honeyeater flew after it and
harassed the tail of the corella causing the corella to duck and weave and
screech and squawk. The honeyeater kept pursuing the corella for 50 metres
or more (maybe 5 seconds or so). I guess that the honeyeater was a
Grey-fronted which is nesting for the fifth consecutive time this season (2
failures and two single young fledged), but it may have been a Brown
Honeyeater.

Why would a honeyeater pursue a Little Corella that was just flying past?
