Hi everyone,

Those who know Lord Howe Island but haven't been there recently will
be pleased to know it's still as beautiful as ever, and that the people and
the birds are as friendly as ever.

I was on a Muttonbird (Flesh-footed Shearwater) 'highway' in the forest
behind Ned's Beach and stopped to admire an Emerald Dove walking down the
same track. Not one, not two, but FIVE Emerald Doves walked past within
inches of my feet, one pausing before deciding not to walk between my boots.

Happy Chrismas to all and a smooth entry to 2000.
