After a very solid night's rain, followed by the same for most of the day, it let up in mid-afternoon. Shortly after, we had a mixed flock of about 20 White-throated Needletails, along with about 60 swiftlets, none of them coming very low, all tending to move to the north-east. The swiftlets showed no pale areas beneath, only very slightly indented tail, impossible to see any pale rump above, but they were pretty high, so I wouldn't rule it out. I have to regard them as ufos but tend to the view that they were most likely White-rumped Swiftlets. Our three previous White-rumped Swiftlet sightings at Abberton (27º 34' S / 152º 08' E) have been in the months of November, December and January.
