G'day all

I just read Rod Gardner's sw WA trip report with much interest as I visited
most of the places he mentions a few weeks ago.

Regarding the Mute Swans at Northam. One valid reason to visit them is
that they are truly beautiful birds. Apparently the colony is artificially
maintained as they are susceptible to a disease (Botulism?) that is
widespread in our native waterfowl. I think they are being fed antibiotics
(?) in bread on a regular basis. I probably have this wrong but there was
some information like this on a board at the river. Does anyone know the
details?

Cheers

Steve
