With lots of information from Murray Lord, I have just spent three days 
birding around Hobart.  My main task was to see the Scrubtit which had 
eluded me at Fern Tree last year.  This time, I spent three periods of 
about two hours each in and around the Fern Glade Track at Fern Tree, and 
saw the bird briefly on about three occasions.  When seen in good light, it 
seemed to show much more contrast than the illustrations in the 
guides.  Certainly, when perched in a tree, it is nothing like the 
Tasmanian Scrubwren.  I also looked for the bird without success at Mount 
Field National Park.
 Following Murray Lord's posting about the Peter Murrell Reserve, just south 
of Hobart, I set out to see all 12 of the Tasmanian endemics on one 
day.  This was not very difficult, since the Forty-spotted Pardalotes 
seemed to be everywhere at the reserve, much easier to see there than at 
Tinderbox.  At Peter Murrell, I saw Forty-spotted, Tasmanian Native Hen, 
Yellow Wattlebird, Yellow-throated and Black-headed Honeyeater and Dusky 
Robin.  At Fern Tree, I saw Tasmanian Scrubwren, Scrubtit, Tasmanian 
Thornbill, Green Rosella and Black Currawong.  I had to go to Neika, just 
south of Fern Tree to see the Strong-billed Honeyeater.
