G'day all

I'm just back after 12 weeks touring SA and WA. Lots of great birds, other
animals and wildflowers.

We crossed the Nullabor, drove up the coast visiting Kalbarri, Monkey Mia,
Coral Bay and Exmouth. Next into the Pilbara then down to Perth and the
south-west corner. Home across the Nullabor and via the Eyre Peninsula.

A great trip!

Not counting "weeds" like sparrows and turtle-doves my bird list for the 2
states was 207 with 19 new birds for me. I think I have about 150 atlas
sheets to fill in.

Met some birders along the way and shared experiences.

I'll write a page or two on the trip and add it to my website - one day.
In the meantime if anyone wants to know anything specific please ask me.

Some birding highlights in no particular order:

- Flocks of budgies
- Grey Plovers in full breeding plumage
- Thick-billed Grasswrens
- A Red-eared Firetail along the Bluff Knoll track in the Stirling Ranges
- Rock Parrots
- Burke's Parrots
- Western Bowerbirds (with bowers)
- Lots of Emus with chicks
- A pair of Australian Shelducks with 32 chicks!
- Pied Honeyeaters at last
- Spinifexbirds

 and many more...

I'm looking forward to being part of birding-aus again

Cheers

Steve
