Apparently it is legal to stuff and sell Regent honeyeaters in Queensland IF
you have all your government paperwork in order (not an easy task anymore,
thank God).  I notified the Wildlife Response Unit of the Queensland Police
and they said they would make enquiries to see that everything was in order
legally.  It is a large and well-respected antique store and I wouldn't be
surprised if they have the relevant permit, probably pre-1974.  By the look
of the birds in the cabinet (which also included a Gouldian finch, some sort
of munias and waxbill finches and lorikeets), I can only say that
taxidermists have very little understanding of "jizz".  Or, to put it
another way, they frequently stuff up their stuffing up!  Keep smiling
everyone.
