Hi chatters,
We saw 7 species of wattle in blossom while birding today.  We went to Bent's Basin reserve using the Bent's Basin Road entrance.  Along the road in we saw lots (10) of Jacky Winters, lots of Double-barred Finches, and a couple of Restless Flycatchers, but no Flame Robins.
We climbed the track to the lookout and while I was photographing a Sunshine Wattle,
a Rock Warbler piped up behind me.  I quickly assembled the complete perfect bird photography kit I.e Nikon F100, an SB.26 flash with a 400 AF lens on a Manfrotto tripod.  I aimed at the perfect rock on which to take the award-winning shot, and played the tape to encourage the Rock Warbler closer. It hopped up a small shrub, took a long look in my direction and buggered off down the gully.  That's bird photography for you!

We went to Cobbitty then to see if we could do as well as well had done in April in the paddocks opposite the Grammar School.  Great views of Shrike-tits, Rose Robins, Sittellas and Orioles but no Hooded Robins or Brown treecreepers alas.  We did find a Brown Gerygone in the Swamp Oak which was very nice.  60 species for the day.
