A short note about penguins
This message didn't arrive when I sent it two days ago to the Deakin server
apparently so I'm reposting it.
As George Appleby noted, The Melbourne Age newspaper (14/7/99) reported
that a Fiordland Penguin has been reported at Moonlight Head near Cape
Otway, western Victoria. The beast has now died and had apparently been at
this location for up to two weeks.
Fiordlands breed on the South Island of New Zealand and on adjacent
islands. After Little Penguins the species appears to be the most commonly
recorded larger penguin in Victoria. This record makes a total of 40
observations of the species in Victoria since records began.
