birding-aus Magpies and eyes!

Michael Norris mentioned the importance of protecting ones eyes when under
threat of a magpie attack.

Interestingly all my attacks in Melbourne have been from male birds from
about the "7 o'clock" position.  This just happens to be the spot which I
cannot easily see with my helmet mirror while cycling (I have about 260
degrees of view).  Maybe the Magpie at Kew knows this!  At no time have I
felt threatened w.r.t. possible eye damage, although I ma aware of media
reports from other states which mention eye injuries to small children
(Canberra, I think).

I wonder whether those infra red night vision goggles would help here?
