Volunteers Needed for Gouldian Finch Searches in Queensland

Experienced birdwatchers are urgently needed to take part in Gouldian Finch searches in far north Queensland.  The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will make arrangements for volunteers to survey properties in the vicinity of Georgetown/Croydon/Forsayth where Gouldian Finches have been sighted in recent years.

If you are planning a bird-watching trip in the far north this dry season then this is an excellent opportunity to get off the beaten track, make a real contribution to bird conservation, and visit places with the best chances of seeing Gouldians.

Volunteers will need to be self-sufficient (ie all food and camping equipment) and have a four-wheel drive vehicle.  Property surveys can be arranged for any period of three days or more between July and November 1999.
