Many of you will already know about the upcoming BirdLife World Conference
being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 13-17 October this year. For those
who do not, the last such conference was held in 1994, and people with a
keen interest in bird conservation are welcome to attend. Conference
themes are:
New information and analysis on bird and biodiversity conservation.
Demonstrations, by example, of the indicator value of birds for
biodiversity and environmental health.
Key actions for biodiversity conservation at a local, national and
international level.
Common approaches to priority setting and achieving good conservation
practice.
Models of NGO/government/corporation collaboration in achieving effective
conservation.
Cross-regional exchange of experience, achievements, skills and resources
through training opportunities.
Global vision, strategies and programmes.
Conservation Fair and Exhibition.
The working language of the Conference is English. Birds Australia is
BirdLife's Australian Partner organisation and will be represented at the
Conference.
