birding-aus RFI: Auckland & Rotorua

I have to go to Auckland in late June shortly to pick up permanent residency 
visas for Oz - legal at last!

I will have four days to play with and want to visit Rotorua for the thermals 
etc. as well as pick up some of the endemics.   Can anyone help with: 
a) contacts and how to get to Little Barrier Island, which apparently has very 
limited access 
b) good alternatives spots for Kokako, Saddleback, (assuming I can't get to 
Little Barrier Island)
c) good areas to pick up Kaka, Red & Yellow crowned Parakeets, New Zealand 
Robin, Whitehead and Blue Duck

Any other wildlife opportunities that should be explored?

Any help very gratefully received.
