Re- Anthea's comment that we should tear down sparrow nests as they 
are being built.

It would probably be more detrimental to the birds if the nest was 
removed with eggs in it, or even with nestlings if you're up to 
destroying the chicks. If the nest is pulled down at the building 
stage the birds will probably just re-build. In fact they probably 
will start again if the nest is destroyed in the egg or nestling 
stage but it will be  more of a set-back for them.
