8th MAY 1999 Sydney, NSW Pelagic Trip Report 

Departed at 7.15 am and returned at 3.00 pm.  
0.5M swell decreasing later, Light Winds.  Reaching 27 Nautical Miles 
E of Sydney Heads. 
Water temperature 21.3 Degrees C.

As with last year a very quiet but pleasant day with low numbers and a low
diversity of species, highlights included the seasons first Wandering
Albatross, Black-browed Albatross and Providence Petrel.  A White-phase
Reef Egret some 25 Miles from shore was an unexpected find.  Stopped at:
34.05'- 151.34' and the sea mount known as 'Browns Mountain' before

088-Black-browed Albatross (impavida) 1 ad  
971-Providence (Solander's) Petrel 15-20 (5) 
075-Great-winged Petrel 2 (1)    
913-Hutton's Shearwater 1
071-Short-tailed Shearwater 2 (1) + 1 dead bird
072-Flesh-footed Shearwater 2 (1)   
104-Australasian Gannet 90 (30+)   
125-Silver Gull 100+   
115-Crested Tern 10+  
106-Australasian Pelican 5 in the harbour  
100-Little Pied Cormorant 1 in the harbour 
191-Reef Egret 1 (White phase) over the shelf  
Common Dolphin  20+ 
Manta Ray 1 (breaching outside the heads)  
Sydney Pelagics depart on the 2nd Saturday of each month, Wollongong  
Pelagics depart on the 4th Sunday of each month and Eden Pelagics the 5th
