I was looking at some Ringnecks at Lark Quarry near Winton, Qld on Monday.
They appeared very similar to Cloncurry Ringnecks (ssp macgillivrayi) but
with a red front like ssp barnardi. they differed from barnardi and
resembled macgillivrayi in extensive yellow belly, violet chin, pale
greenish back, pale greenish tail.

Anyway, I noticed afterwards that Pizzey & Knight recognise 2 species of
ringneck, "Eastern" and "Western", where as Christidis and Boles' checklist
recognised only one. This is the only example I know of where P&K deviate
from C&B. Are there other examples? Do P&K say much in the intro about the
taxonomy they use? (I don't actually have a copy of P&K to check, and
haven't used it much).
