Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) has a long-standing reputation as a reliable site for Purple-crowned Lorikeets. This seems to be secure at the moment. Continuous and vigorous calls drew my attention today to a large, heavily-flowering eucalypt close to the left side of the on-ramp to the upper (departure) deck of the semi-circular airport road. Many lorikeets were within the tree. Well worth a trip for any local (or fortuitous visitor) who has yet to have good views of these tiny jewels.
