Dear All,
A close friend of mine (and a birder, though not a member of this
list) has been posted to Port Moresby, PNG from December this year for a
couple of years (cheers!!). I wonder if members of this list could help her
(and me) with some information:

i. What is the best field guide for PNG birds?

ii. Is there a "where to find birds in PNG" or any equivalent?

iii. Is there a local bird group, section of RAOU or some equivalent
organisation she could contact and/or join?

any other tips she (and/or I) should know? I know Moresby is a dangerous
city, but she is travelling there under the auspices of the Oz government
for whom she will be working, so she will be briefed on security matters
and will, I think, have some language training before she goes.

I expect that replies should mostly come to me directly rather than be
posted to the whole list, but I will leave that to the judgment of anyone
who is replying.

Thanks
Kim
