Dear birders
I have a friend who has just been switched on to birding and is very keen to
buy a pair of bins. She want's them immediately (of course!) and has asked me
for advice, re: what type, where to buy etc. Budget is up to $300 though this
isn't a fixed limit as a birthday looms.
All my gear was bought in UK where there are many specialist shops like In
Focus and most large specialist optical (ie camera) stores do good ranges of
the better brands. I haven't come across anything similar in Aus, but haven't
really been looking.
Any recommendations where to go in Sydney to get something better than the
dreadful looking Tasco's or ultra expensive (for a beginner) Leicas which seems
to be all that the duty free stores offer?
She is off to NZ at the weekend and wants to buy pronto. Any advice gratefully
received.
