Some years ago I rescued a Silvereye from the cat. Before it was
released (unharmed I'm glad to say) it passed a quantity of pittosporum
seeds in its droppings. Blackbirds also consume them, I've seen them
eating the fruit. When local Melbourne Pittosporums are in fruit they
are always full of Silvereyes.
Incidentally the berries of Coprosma quadrifida are also favourites with
Silvereyes - they park their fledglings in the bushes in summer and
stuff them with berries. Plenty of the Coprosma at Morwell NP as well as
pittosporum, though I dont think I saw any Silvereyes there last week.
