The Readers Digest Complete Book of Australian Birds,
on page 619, lists Coturnix coturnix under Introductions and escaped
captives and gives the following brief explanation:
Common Quail Coturnix coturnix
Twelve 'Madagascar Quail' imported into Victoria in 1862; fate and identity
unknown.
