13th April 1999 Further to my posting yesterday, today the migration here is huge! Under a cloudless sky I counted 850 in 10 minutes (11.12-11.22am) flying north up my part of the Katoomba Falls catchment. That's about 5100 an hour, mainly Yellow-faced Honeyeaters but including a sizeable proportion of Silvereyes as well. (Don't ask me to tell you how many of each - it's hard enough just counting!) There were also some Spotted and Striated Pardalotes. Cheers, Carol Carol Probets Katoomba NSW ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com To unsubscribe from this list, please send a message to Include ONLY "unsubscribe birding-aus" in the message body (without the quotes) |
