I should pass along what i found out the other day...
people planning to go out to Round Hill Nature Reserve or Loughnan NR, or
any of the other less visited nature reserves in the area should contact
Griffith National Parks office at 02 6962 7755 to get a bird list and let
them know you will be there. Many of the reserves in the area have only
recently been declared and birders can help NPWS immensely by visiting
them and passing along their birdlists. the person i talked to was quite
frustrated that he could only findout about the rare birds from unusual
sighting reports when data on relatively common species was scarce.

in bird news, we had the amazing experience of seeing 7 lyrebirds
together along the forest path at Royal NAtional Park last wednesday. two
of the males were displaying which is the first time I've seen them
actually do it. interesting seeing the rufous and grey fantails together
in the same place, and we caught up with southern emu-wrens on the curra
moors track, but no tawny-crowned honeyeaters.

happy birding!
