What a coincidence that you should post this message, I actually heard a
Redtail (calling) as it flew over here at Pomona yesterday morning at about
6 am. The first I've heard for quite a long time, although I do hear the
odd one or two flying over throughout the year. (BTW, the reason I say I
"hear" as opposed to "see" is that our house is situated right in the bush,
and we don't get a view of the surrounding area, so I have to rely on my
hearing to identify a lot of birds.)
The Yellowtails are the predominant species around here, but we also get the
Glossies right here on our own property, feeding on the Casuarina littoralis
in the garden.
