Our list manager, Russell Woodford, reported last week that Little Egrets
(Egretta garzetta) are breeding again in his area.

Subscribers may not be aware that this colony is now the only regular site
for breeding by this species in Victoria. The two other sites have not
been used for many years now and less than 10 nests have been recorded at
any site in the last 20 years. I am compiling a management plan for three
of the "white egrets" in Victoria and welcome any persons input,
particularly breeding observations since 1970 for the state. Contact me
direct if you can offer any observations.
