A thought that might assist some to stir their brain (ala Pat's posting)
into action.....

A few years back when Fay and I were putting together our paper THE BIRDS OF
THE REDCLIFFE PENINSULA [_Sunbird_ 26(4) December 1996] I asked Birds
Australia (then of course the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union [RAOU
might stir up feelings in regard to abbreviations] and was duly sent a list
complied from sightings recorded by the first Atlassers. Near the top of
the list was BLACK-BELLIED STORM-PETREL.

Now, I'll leave to your imaginations the surge of excitement suddenly
rushing through our collective veins on reading this. BLACK-BELIED
STORM-PETREL in Redcliffe!!!!! I immediately asked (and paid) for the
original observers' sheets. Sure enough BBSP was there!

To cut a longer story short, it of course wasn't the storm-petrel but rather
the Broad-billed Sandpiper (BBSP) that had been observed in Redcliffe.
Someone in Melbourne has committed an ever-so-slight testicular ascendancy
with their four-lettered abrreviations.

Now if the RAOU (currently BA) can commit a BU over BBSP where does that
leave those with a lesser IQ?
