Good morning all

A brief comment to the various postings about terminology and abbreviations
of bird names.

There is really only one true way of expressing the name of an animal or
plant to ensure that all readers/record keepers have the best chance of
knowing which species is being referred to: its the scientific name.

While it is acknowledged that the scientific name is more "fiddly" than the
popular alternative, and complex in a list, it is still the only true way
of expressing the name.

Because "popular" names are variable with user and the area/region, they
are not strictly reliable if we are trying to keep true records.
