We are near the Tallebudgera Creek Environmental Park, Gold Coast, Qld.
The problem remains. How can we find leverage over the local council to
get them to enforce the existing by-law of dogs on leash.
Does anyone have a polite, assertive speech to give any dog owner found
maurauding their leashless pooch?
This is a mixed mangrove/casuarina/eucalypt/grassland estuary for which
we have a bird species list of about 140 including a recent sighting of
the Brown Quail. The park is adjacent to a main road, on the otherside
of which is residential housing. One of these is my father who walks the
park daily and maintains an on-going bird list. Several neighbours walk
their dogs (German Sheperds and similar) on and off leash.
The response of the councillor to faxes from my father has been to
increase the number of 'Dogs on leash' signs in the park.
