I went to Bibra Lake yesterday (31/12) to look for the Little Ringed Plover
seen the previous day by Mike Bamford. It was very easy to find. Other
people saw it in the afternoon.

It was on the eastern side on Bibra Lake. Park at the start of the bike
track on Bibra Drive and walk until there is a side path that leads to a
board walk that goes out to a bird hide.

The Little Ringed Plover flew from the left to the right being harrassed by
a Black-fronted Dotterel. All the right field marks such as no wing bar in
flight; black bill; yellow/orange legs; pale ring around back of neck; band
across front; creamy throat; yellow eye ring (not as conspicuous as the bird
I saw a few years ago in Derby); white underneath; about same size as
Black-fronted Dotterels; pale forehead / supercillium.

Other good birds seen for Perth were Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo (the first I
have seen in the Perth metro area); Red-capped Parot; Swamp Harrier with
very chestnut rump; White-winged Triller heard.

I will probably be going to Lake McLarty near Pinjarra on Sunday, so maybe
there will be something of interest there ....

Happy New Year
