My two cents for what it is worth (grin).

Since people are saturated with visual input, impressive imagery on
wildlife films will have little or no effect. Alternatively, people need
to get intellectually or personally involved to develop an appreciate of
natural world.

A clear and engaging explanation (with pictures) of how Regent Honeyeaters
use vocal mimicry could have a more profound and positive effect than
listening to a lyrebird imitaing a chainsaw, assuming that one does.
All said, I am enjoying the series, but I truely believe it has no
measureable effect on the attitude of the general public, etc. -- in fact,
most probably have little interest in watching it.
