Further to the various postings on throat worms I raised the issue on
Birdmed. Spirurids are more likely than the other possibilities mentioned.
These are common in Queensland and NSW and rarely or never seen in
Victoria, Tasmania (or Brazil!). Mechanical removal along with oral
treatment with levamisole or moxidectin are being used with success to
eliminate the parasites.
