I can't quite make out what started off this series of comments about
misidentification of a "baby sea- eagle". If it was a Whistling Kite then
even more surprising things happen and get out. About 8 years ago there were
reports including an article in the local newspaper about Pied Currawongs
feeding a baby sea-eagle on the NSW south coast and quite a few were fooled
and most couldn't account for it. Of course when the pictures came out it
was a baby Channel-billed Cuckoo. The locals must have thought it is a big
grey bird with a big appetite, it must be a sea-eagle.
