Banyule Wetland

Over the last two days I have seen Latham's snipe and the buff-banded rail
at the end of the Banyule Wetland that borders onto the children's park in
inner suburban Melbourne. Lots of other birds but these for me a highlight
for my birding strolls in this suburb. One of the snipe on Tuesday was very
light in colour and yet my HANZAB reference suggests no distinct
differences on the basis of maturity/sex. I dunno -- has anyone else
noticed such differences. Moulting? Dirt?.....
