24th Oct. - Peregrine Falcon perched beside the Barron River eating a Fruit
Bat
31st Oct. - Great-billed Heron perched on the airport walkway over the
Barron River.
3rd Nov. - 2 Pied Herons at the Cairns Airport, 1 Adult and 1 Juvenile.
There has also been recent sightings at the Southern Treatment Works in
Cairns and at Lake Mitchell on the Mareeba-Mt. Molloy Road.
5th Nov. 2 Broad-billed Sandpipers on Cairns Esplanade, also several Lesser
Sandplovers with traces of breeding plumage.
7th Nov. 4 Beach Stone-curlew on Cairns Airfield.
7th Nov. Aust. Magpie-lark sitting in nest in the middle of Cairns City
Place whilst its mate spent all its time chasing off Common Mynas. Quite a
good spot for a nest as it is built over an outdoor cafe, loots of goodies
to scavenge + a grassed area next to it.

The week ending the 31st Oct. saw up to 53 Marsh Sandpipers at the Cairns
Airport, by 3rd Nov. there was only four..
