Following the Caper White thread, thousands of these butterflies have been
passing northwards through the Sunshine Coast for some weeks now. I seem to
recall that these mass migrations occur irregularly for a given species;
perhaps someone can elaborate. I seem to remember that it was the turn of Blue
Tigers two years ago, but I don't think anything special occurred here last
year. The previous mass migration of Caper Whites was about five years ago. As
another scribe suggested retaining some avian link in this thread, I can assure
those who think these butterfly messages inappropriate in this forum that much
of this migration of Caper Whites was noticed while viewing an Asian Dowitcher
at Toorbul on Saturday morning.
