Brief highlights from a SOSSA banding trip aboard the Sandra K ex Wollongong.

On a calm sea in the middle of a high pressure when self-respecting
seabirds are sitting on a calm ocean or  hundreds of miles away we recorded
the following:

Sea temperature 15.5°C outside the harbour to 20°C 26 NM offshore.

Birds
Antipodean Albatross 2 (2)  one banded
Gibson's Albatross 20 (12) six banded
"Wandering-type" Albatross 6 (6)
Indian Yellow-nosed Albatross 20 (12)
Campbell Albatross 5 (2)
Black-browed Albatross 8 (3)
Grey-headed Albatross 2 (1); one second and one first year bird.
Northeren Giant Petrel 2 (1); one adult and one first year bird.
White-headed Petrel 1, also Solander's and Great-winged
Manx Shearwater 1 (1) observed down to 20m with a group of 2000+ Fluttering
Shearwaters
Wedge-tailed Shearwater 90 (45)

Mammals
Bottle-nosed Dolphin 20+
Sperm Whale 6+
Blue Whale 1
