Hello Bob

I'm sending this message on behalf of Clide Carter

Margaret Cameron

To: Bob Sothman
From: That South African tape-playing tourist on his first visit to the
Chestnut-breasted Whiteface site 27km from Lyndhurst

To let you know that later during the day we met I walked up the creek from
the camp spot at the second (disused mine) site and saw 2 birds. On 1
August I found 2 birds at the first site, along one of the small creeks in
the hills. On neither occasion were the sightings tape assisted. Nor did
the birds hang around very long, suddenly arriving, both times, on tops of
small bushes, soon dropping to the ground but feeding there very briefly
before flying off out of sight not allowing follow up.

Unfortunately road conditions did not permit us to move very far along the
Birdsville Track but some 5km south of Marree we had 2 Gibberbird and 3
Inland Dotterel whilst several Orange Chats were at the start of the
Birdsville. All very pleasing.

Best regards
Clide Carter

(He should be pleased. I haven't seen either a Gibberbird or a
Chestnut-breasted Whiteface! Margaret)
