Dear Niegil plus birding folks
Jabiluka is on special lease outside the Park. It was part of the conditions
for the creation of Kakadu NP that this area was excluded. It is wrong to
assume this project will set a precedent to mining in other NPs.
>1) The Greens do concern themselves with landclearing and overfishing!!
>2) Jabiluka is on World Heritage listed land, so I don't know how the
>Liberals got away with it. In fact, I have heard that the international
>Heritage group will be investigating Jabiluka.
>3) In itself Jabiluka is not a major problem because it is a relatively
>minute amount of land...but it sets a precedent to mine on any national or
>internationally listed land.
