Highlights from twice-weekly Canberra Ornithologists' Group (COG) hotline,
for week ending 14 August (some reports are of earlier obs).
The first cuckoo of spring! And a couple of (at least locally!) interesting
odd obs.

PALLID CUCKOO 11/8 calling at nearby Belmount Forest

GLOSSY BLACK-COCKIES still up to 6 on suburban Mt Ainslie/Majura, but
most interesting, courtship and hollow-investigation reported. I at least
have never heard of them breeding in or near the ACT before; ANY FURTHER

CASPIAN TERN 9/8 suburban Jerrabomberra wetlands; to my knowledge, the
first ACT record in over 10 years

PIED CURRAWONG HUNTING SUGAR GLIDER! THe (presumably daytime) pursuit took
place for over 30 minutes in Alpine Ash (E. delegatensis) forest at Billy
Billy Rocks, Tidbinbilla in the low nearby ranges, on 9/8
